Kerrie Benson
— Executive Director
Dance Teacher for over 20 years in Birmingham, Jacksonville, Mobile, and to dance teams and studios across the southeast.
Kerrie’s dance career definitely took a different turn than expected, and it is so much better! Professionally trained at studios in Birmingham, Jacksonville, NYC, Chicago, London and Las Vegas. She was the dance team coordinator and choreographer for the Birmingham Steeldogs Arena football dance team - “Showsteelers”, leading them to AFL2 “Dance Team of the Year” 2002-2005. She was also the University of Alabama at Birmingham "Blazerette" choreographer 2003-2006. Locally she has choreographed Miss Alabama preliminary pageants, FUSE Lip Sync Battles, high school dance teams regionally but her favorite is choreographing for her students with special needs.
She is mom to a special needs child, Rock (Rockstar). Rockstar and his love of music and movement was the inspiration behind Dance Without Limits.
While a student at Jacksonville State University she performed with the JSU “Marching Ballerinas” and as a co-ed cheerleader. She is featured in “Yoga - Southern Style” fitness DVD. She performed in regional productions of Mame, Anything Goes, Bye Bye Birdie, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, A Chorus Line, and Chicago. She is mom to a special needs child, Rock (Rockstar) who is diagnosed with autism and her neurotypical son (well, sometimes) Colt. Rockstar and his love of music and movement was the inspiration behind Dance Without Limits. “I always wanted to have my own studio one day and my dream came true – with the most wonderful twist”!
